ii7-V7-IM7 Soloing Ideas: Target Notes

Think in logical groupings of notes where the final note in each group is a chord tone, a target that you are going to aim for and hit. Draw a musical arc like the trajectory of an arrow on its way to each target. The jazziest notes, the most fruitful target notes, are rarely the roots of the chords. The most interesting tend to be the definitive tones of "the 3" and "the 7", sometimes "the 5", or color tones like "the 6" or "the 9". Also notice that each target notes falls on an up-beat (syncopation).

This concept is such a strong organizing force that you can play almost anything before hitting the target. Experiment to see how many ways you can approach each target.
